How To Prevent False Alarms

1) If you accidentally set off your alarm, call your alarm company immediately!

2) DO NOT CALL 911 TO CANCEL THE ALARM. You must call your alarm company.

3) Remember your alarm pass code or pass word for the alarm company.

4) Make sure all alarm users and key holders to the residence or building are trained to use the system and know the codes to arm and disarm the system.

5) Be sure that doors and windows are tight-fitting.

6) Lock all protected doors and windows. DO NOT leave doors and windows unlocked while you are away.

7) Do not leave anything that will move in a room that is protected with a motion sensor. Example: pets, plants or balloons might move or be blown around by fans, air conditioning, etc.

8) Have the sensitivity on motion detectors and glass breakage sensors adjusted so that typical sounds or movements do not activate them.

9) Have your alarm checked and tested regularly. An alarm service plan reduces future costs of equipment repair.

10) Call your alarm company after each false alarm.

FOR YOU SAFETY!

DO NOT TAKE ANY ACTION ON AN ALARM UNLESS THE POLICE DISPATCHER OR RESPONDING OFFICERS TELL YOU TO DO SOMETHING. DO NOT ENTER OR GO OUTSIDE YOUR HOME OR OFFICE TO INVESTIGATE WHY YOUR ALARM IS GOING OFF UNLESS THE POLICE DISPATCHER OR OFFICERS ON THE SCENE ASK YOU TO DO SO. DO NOT ASSUME THAT YOUR ALARM COMPANY TOLD US THAT YOU WERE GOING TO BE INVESTIGATING THE ALARM YOURSELF. UNLESS YOU HAVE TO ENTER OR EXIT THE BUILDING FOR SAFETY SAKE, DO NOT GO INSIDE OR COME OUTSIDE UNTIL TOLD TO DO SO. IF YOU ENCOUNTER OFFICERS DURING AN ALARM INVESTIGATION, COOPERATE FULLY WITH THEIR INSTRUCTIONS AND ORDERS. REMEMBER, THE RESPONDING OFFICERS DO NOT KNOW WHO YOU.
